| There's lots to see on the Bass River! Windmills still weather the
breezes that spun their blades for corn grinding and salt making. The ocean
beckons nearby and from the river's mouth you will be able to see ocean
front resorts, popular beaches, a civil war era breakwater, and a
spectacular panorama of the Cape's south shore. The Bass River is the largest all salt water tidal river on the eastern seaboard and one of Cape Cod's most beautiful harbors. Her shoreline's ever changing scenery is enhanced by her sparkling clean waters. Up river there is much unspoiled wilderness. Terns hover over their nests as you paddle only a few feet away. Ducks and geese swim nearby with their new families following close behind. You'll always see a large osprey's nest, and often catch a glimpse of snowy white egrets, great blue herons and protected terns. |
